I’ve been a coach’s wife for almost 23 years and can I just tell you: it’s not for everyone. Oh sure, there are plenty of amazing people and opportunities this life has given our family, but personally, this life has been hard. Being a coach’s wife is lonely at times. It’s managing the home and family by myself for most of the year. I think back to the first half of our marriage when the kids were little, and the one thing that was truly missing was my deep relationship with Jesus. Yes, that’s right, you heard me. It would have appeared as though my relationship with Jesus was a deep and meaningful one, but I’ll be honest, it wasn’t. But let me tell you, once I committed to my Savior in a more purposeful way, that loneliness and self doubt has decreased tremendously.
And one thing that has helped me? Coaches' Wives Ministry
This ministry brings together women who are supporting the mission work of their coaching husbands. We are sisters in Christ as we support each other through gospel study and training so that we can better support our husbands and the students they coach. This ministry helps families grow stronger in their love of Jesus which in turn brings the love of Jesus to the communities we are serving. I only wish this ministry existed 23 years ago when we first started out. But, better late than never!
